Day 2 and things are going well, no snacking and good demeanor, on the whole I am surprised at how well he has taken to it. Did express the need for milk and would have liked some cranberries with his nuts but we will keep it pretty strict for the early stages and start to easy up as we move on. He said he was super hungry at dinner but after eating went to bed without any complaints. No headaches or other side effects.
Breakfast - 2 Scrambled eggs
Lunch - 3 Laughing cow high fat cheese triangles and 50g nuts (ate 2 cheeses and about 2/3 of the nuts) Dinner - Repeat of breakfast with Bacon, Strawberries and vanilla cream for pudding. |

Had to travel to Johannesburg so tried to stick to the diet. Had coffee and the on board breakfast eating the eggs but avoiding all the carbs and sugar which basically meant I at about 1/4 of what was on offer. Other than that felt very tied the whole day due partly to a lack of sleep but it seemed a bit more pronounced than usuall.
Breakfeast - Coffee and eggs
Breaks & Lunck - Shepherds pie and veg, avoided most of the potato Supper - Staek, Beetroot, Cabbage salad. Coffee |

Summary
All things considered the first week went fairly well. Motivation is good and compliance is high. I don't think our BHB levels are higher than 0.7 yet but without a meter it is difficult to tell. We tried to measure with the Nova Max Plus meter but it didn't work which seems to be a theme with that unit. (see comparison here) I am getting a Precision Xtra meter which is more reliable and more accurate but it will only arrive in a few weeks. Till then we will be relying on keeping to <50g carbs a day and hoping for the best.
On the whole Bryces attention seems unchanged. After Friday I have started to ad in a bit of carbs on the days he exercises and that seems to be giving him the extra bit of energy he needs. I feel good with sustained energy throughout the day despite the relatively low calorie intake.
